Christmas vignettes adorn a Christmas tree skirt with Peruvian flair. Leonor Quispe depicts a shepherd leading llamas toward the stable where the Christ child sleeps in a manger. In another, Santa leaves presents beneath festive pines, and another depicts a peaceful hamlet in the Andes. Quispe works in the traditional art of arpillerÃa (patchwork), with tiny figures crafted in three dimensions and embroidered. The colorful background fabric emulates traditional hand-loomed cloth.
